About Compression of Files
Files downloaded from this site have been compressed to enhance download times. There are some considerations to be made when expanding this files depending on your platform:
Windows
Every individual image has been previously compressed using the ZIP format, and all the compressed images within one order have been gathered together into a single ZIP archive, so to expand the files, first expand the single archive you downloaded from the site. This will create one compressed file for every image in your order, and then you may proceed to expand every image individually, to get the actual illustration in it's native format. We recommend using WinZIPTM (v7.0 or higher) for expanding the files.
If your browser tries to expand the files automatically and generates an error, this is because the ZIP plug-in is not compatible with the ZIP format the files are compressed with. Is this is the case, please save the archive to disk (Right Click on the link, and select Save As...) and then proceed to expand using WinZipTM or a similar application.
Macintosh
Every individual image has been previously compressed using the SIT format, and all the compressed images within one order have been gathered together into a single ZIP archive, so to expand the files, first expand the single archive you downloaded from the site, using some application like Zip ItTM. Do not use Stuffit ExpanderTM or Stuffit DeluxeTM, since these products are incompatible with the ZIP format used to compress the files. This will create one compressed file for every image in your order, and then you may proceed to expand every image individually, to get the actual illustration in it's native format, using whatever program that handles SIT files (including Stuffit ExpanderTM and Stuffit DeluxeTM)
If your browser tries to expand the files automatically and generates an error, this is because the ZIP plug-in is not compatible with the ZIP format the files are compressed with. Is this is the case, please save the archive to disk (Press the mouse on the link, and do not release until the pop-up menu appears, and select Save As...) and then proceed to expand first using ZipItTM or a similar application, and then unstuff the SIT with StuffitTM or a similar application.
About EPS
One Mile Up uses the Encapsulated PostScriptTM
(*.EPS) file format which is universally accepted by all popular
graphics, presentation, word processing and animation software
applications for Macintosh, UNIX and IBM compatibles. These illustrations
can be resized infinitely without loss of resolution or detail,
and they are fully editable. PostScript will always print at the
maximum resolution available from your printer. Our WindowsTM
files contain a Windows Metafile (*.WMF) encapsulation, which
will print from any laser printer.
The artwork is designed so that the end user can use it 'as
is' or benefit from the editing features of the illustrations
(intelligent grouping, PantoneÆ color matching, pie chart
graphics, color trapping, etc.). Even the novice user can create
stunning presentations by utilizing these features as described
in the manuals which accompany the artwork.
Hardware & Software Requirements
Federal Clip Art will work with any software application
that allows you to import, place or open Encapsulated Postscript
(*.EPS) files. For maximum editing capability, we recommend Adobe
Illustrator, MacroMedia Freehand, CorelDraw! or any other illustration
application. Some presentation applications, such as Microsoft
PowerPoint, will allow the user some editing capability as well.
All popular software applications for presentations, publications
or word processing will allow the user to place and resize an
EPS file anywhere within the document.
The following is a partial list of software applications supporting
the EPS format. Please be sure to use the latest versions, as
some of the older versions are unable to support this file format
(e.g. Harvard Graphics for Windows will support EPS, but Harvard
Graphics for DOS will not):
